Description
KASO-C Container Blast Room – 40 ft Abrasive Blasting Chamber with Closed-Loop Abrasive Recovery
The KASO-C container blast room is a complete abrasive blasting system in which the working chamber is a 40 ft shipping container with a scraper floor covering its entire area. The process equipment is located behind the end wall, and the abrasive runs in a closed loop: it is collected by the floor, reclaimed and returned to service, while dust-laden air is filtered before being discharged to atmosphere.

KASO-C Blast Room Overview
KASO-C series blast rooms are designed for abrasive blast cleaning of metal surfaces – removing rust, mill scale and old coatings in industrial conditions. The system is used for surface preparation of long workpieces before painting, as well as for removing corrosion and old coatings during repair work. We can also recommend the right abrasive for closed-loop operation – see our range of steel grit, steel shot and metallic abrasives for blasting.
Typical applications:
- steel structures, beams, trusses,
- pipes and long rolled sections,
- trailer frames and platforms,
- bodies and superstructures of special vehicles,
- tanks, vessels, welded assemblies,
- agricultural machinery.
The full length of the container is dedicated to a working area of 12,000 × 2,350 × 2,430 mm – there is no internal technical compartment. Workpieces are loaded from the end, through the standard container doors spanning the full width of the body. Behind the end wall sit the dust collector, the vacuum abrasive recovery unit, the ductwork and the scraper floor drive. The control panel is mounted on the outside wall next to the doors, so equipment is started and stopped outside the dusty zone.
Closed-loop abrasive recovery cuts abrasive consumption several times over compared with single-pass blasting and frees operators from manually cleaning the working area after every cycle.
From a technical standpoint, three solutions are key. The scraper floor covering the entire working area eliminates manual shovelling and carrying of abrasive. The dust collector keeps the chamber under negative pressure, so dust cannot escape through gaps into adjacent work areas, and its filters are cleaned by pulse-jet compressed air. Finally, the retained ISO corner castings allow the chamber to be moved with standard container handling equipment, and a dedicated port for the abrasive recovery hose makes it possible to clear residue from hard-to-reach spots without opening the doors.
How does a container blast room with closed-loop abrasive recovery work?
The operator blasts the workpiece with abrasive propelled by compressed air. The abrasive, together with the removed rust and mill scale, falls onto the scraper floor, which conveys it to the collection point. The vacuum unit separates dust and broken grains, and the reusable abrasive returns to the blast pot and back into service.
- Surface cleaning – the abrasive stream removes rust, mill scale and old coatings.
- Scraper floor collection – scrapers move the mixture along the chamber to the collection point at the end.
- Reclamation – the vacuum unit separates fines and broken grains and stores the reusable abrasive.
- Return to service – the cleaned abrasive is fed back to the blast pot, while dust settles in the dust collector hoppers.
- Ventilation – fresh air enters naturally through two intake grilles in the roof above the doors, sweeps the full length of the working area and is extracted through an exhaust grille in the opposite end wall.
